The spring 2023 season marks the debut of CPHFW NewTalent, an initiative supported by the fashion week and Circulose®, that aims to support emerging Nordic talent. One of the participants is the Finnish designer Ervin Latimer, who earned an MA at the hotbed of talent that is Aalto University. Latimer, who comes from the ballroom scene, made quite a splash last season at Pitti Uomo when he combined both of his passions in a performative presentation. The topics Latimer is exploring in his work, like queerness and anti-racism, are related to larger discussions about identity and gender. “I started the company a year ago,” he said on a call. “Obviously masculinity and challenging masculinity has been a part of fashion history forever, but I feel I’ve hit something. It seems to me that there’s some sort of a moment going on with masculinity, in popular culture.”
